Our Spending Priorities

Advancing the Gospel through Local Ministry and Foreign Missions

Jesus commanded His church to “make disciples of all the nations” (Matthew 28:19). We follow His commission through our local ministries, and by supporting foreign and domestic missionaries.

In 2019, approximately 50% of our operating budget went to local ministry; 20% went to foreign and domestic missions. Wages, utilities, maintenance, insurance, and other costs associated with ministry represented approximately 30% of our operating budget.

Meeting the Needs of Our Neighbor

The Bible is clear that we cannot love our neighbor and ignore his material needs (James 2:15-17; 1 John 3:17). We maintain a benevolent fund, separate from our operating budget, from which we offer assistance to people in need on a case-by-case basis. We also hold an annual winter clothing drive for the homeless of Detroit, in cooperation with Outcry Youth and Street Ministries.
